The Radiant Appeal of a Sunburst Mirror...
I’ve always loved sun burst mirrors. They date back to France’s King Louis XIV, who was known as the 'Sun King' due to his love of its powerful rays. In the 1940’s, during the Hollywood Regency period, the sun burst mirror basked in its hey day and has remained a design classic ever since.
When I needed to fill a large wall space at the bottom of our staircase, a sunburst mirror seemed the perfect choice. It’s the first thing that we see when we come downstairs in the morning, welcoming us with a beautiful blast of positivity. It creates a natural focal point, drawing the eye towards an accent piece that defines the overall style of our home.
With its muted metal and lack of colour, it adds a great deal of character without overwhelming the other décor. It helps to create a serene, happy ambience while also serving as a practical item that’s constantly used whenever we’re dashing out of the front door and need to do a quick face check!
Mirrors in general are useful design tools for amplifying light, creating the illusion of more space and breaking up visual clutter. They’re also known as powerful Feng Shui implements, boosting chi energy throughout your home and encouraging increased wealth, good health and happiness. So I like to think of our dazzling sunburst as a multi functioning style statement, enhancing our lives at every level!
